The Omegon planisphere is the best way to learn how to recognise stars and constellations. It is your guide to the stars!
A planisphere is a round sky map with the celestial pole at its centre. This map shows all the stars, constellations and objects such as nebulae (see below) that are visible from a certain geographical area. However, the starry sky is never the same: stars rise and set, and the sky in summer is different from that in autumn, winter or spring. That is why the planisphere has a second disc above the star chart. This disc has a transparent opening, the horizon opening, which shows which part of the sky is visible at that date and time. This makes it easy to set the planisphere for the correct date and time. Omegon planispheres at a glance:
- show the starry sky at any time of the year
- are very accurate, elegant, well designed and inexpensive
- can be easily set to the desired date and time
- they contain more than 700 stars and around 300 'binocular targets': deep sky objects such as galaxies, nebulae, star clusters, double stars and so on, visible to the naked eye or with a pair of binoculars.
- They are suitable for ages 10 and up
- They last a lifetime... or even longer!
